Fools Trade

A jockey has gone missing with a Sweepstakes race in the offing, and it seems that half of Nashville's upper crust has something to hide. From his "office" in Hannigan's bar, Jackson Trade is facing a lonely month of recuperation from a nasty fall. So, when an acquaintance asks him to help a millionaire locate a missing jockey, he accepts, against his better judgement. After all, five hundred a day, plus expenses, goes a long way in 1980, even on Nashville's elegant west end. Jackson gets more than he bargains for, though, when he draws the attention of the millionaire's angry wife and finds himself on the wrong side of a spoiled, society boy who hates everything but horses. Not to mention the fact that the millionaire has some secrets of his own, secrets he expects Jackson to keep. To make matters worse, the jockey is not the only thing missing. And all before the South's biggest steeplechase race of the year with millions on the line. Can Jackson make things right in Nashville's kingdom of the wealthy? Or will they all go down in flames, with Jackson in the lead? The is Hardboiled Southern. All. Day. Long.
