Sharp-tongued Kiki Banjo hosts Brown Sugar, a popular student radio show at Whitewell University, where she warns the women of the African-Caribbean Society away from players and situationships. Then the self-styled Queen of the Unbothered kisses Malakai Korede, a charming transfer student and film major she has just branded campus trash, in front of practically everyone. To save her show and help his documentary, they agree to a fake relationship, and Kiki, who has never let anyone near her heart, finds late-night diner talks and study sessions slowly breaking down her assumptions.
