Lightning in a Mirror

Investigator Olivia LeClair's speed-dating experiment ends with an attempt on her life, and soon afterward Harlan Rancourt, a man everyone believed was dead, turns up asking for her help. Harlan, once groomed to inherit control of the Foundation that Olivia now works for, needs to find the lost Vortex lab of the secret Bluestone Project and the dangerous weapon it hides, and several ruthless factions believe only Olivia's latent psychic talent can unlock it. Distrustful of his motives but out of options, she joins forces with him to survive and stop more killings. The final Fogg Lake book blends paranormal-tinged suspense with romance; Booklist praised its sizzling desire, though Kirkus found the love story underdeveloped next to the inventive world-building.
