The Empathy Bloom

A canceled science girl. A brother who is forgetting her face. And a plastic-eating bacteria that is erasing humanity's memories. Mara Vance predicted the apocalypse. They laughed at her science fair poster and called her crazy. Now, the "Forget flu" is spreading, and her little brother Leo is forgetting her name. To save him, Mara must race across a collapsing world-from vine-choked Seattle to an abandoned Arctic research ship where her estranged aunt's dark secret waits. But the cure is not what she expects. When a cult of memory-worshippers and a brilliant scientist with a guilty conscience offer two terrible choices-forget everything or lose everything-Mara must decide: Who are we if we can't remember? Who are we if we can't stop remembering? The Empathy Bloom is a gripping YA dystopian thriller about family, neurodiversity, and the courage to rewrite the apocalypse. Perfect for readers of The 5th Wave, The Darkest Minds, and Scythe.
